Contemporary theatre festival at the Teatro Cicero in Cefalù
The Cosa porta il vento – Portraits of Humanity festival is a contemporary theatre event held in Cefalù, a stunning town in the Province of Palermo, Sicily. Hosted in the historic Teatro Comunale Salvatore Cicero on Via Salvatore Spinuzza, the event offers a selection of free admission performances every year, designed to introduce the local public to high-quality, experimental theatre.
The festival is managed by the Associazione Circo dell'avvenire under the artistic direction of Tiziana Giordano and is supported by the patronage of the Municipality of Cefalù. Each edition is built around a thematic thread: the title Portraits of Humanity encapsulates the project's mission to tell the thousand facets of the human experience through the stage, from vulnerabilities to emotional bonds, and from collective memory to the social issues of our time.
The programme brings together Sicilian local companies and nationally renowned acts, alternating between original dramaturgy, musical theatre, puppet theatre, and civic prose. The Cicero stage has hosted prominent names such as the Teatro Biondo di Palermo and independent companies like Teatro Insania from Naples, in a constant dialogue between languages and generations.
In addition to the evening performances, the festival pays special attention to schools, with morning shows designed for students from Cefalù and the Madonie area. It is a concrete way to root theatrical culture in the city's fabric and make the Teatro Cicero a stable cultural hub for the Madonie community.
For those visiting Cefalù in the spring, the festival offers the perfect opportunity to combine the discovery of one of Sicily's most beautiful locations—with its UNESCO-listed Norman cathedral and charming historic centre—with high-quality theatre evenings that are free and accessible to all.
The third edition of the festival was held in Cefalù (PA) from March 1st to May 3rd, 2026, with an entirely free programme focused on the theme of human relationships and their complexity. All performances took place at the Teatro Comunale Salvatore Cicero starting at 6:30 PM, accompanied by morning matinees at 11:00 AM reserved for schools.
The event, managed by the Associazione Circo dell'avvenire under the artistic direction of Tiziana Giordano, confirmed the role of the Teatro Cicero as a cultural hub for Cefalù and the Madonie.
