The 10 km road race crossing the town, from Polvica to Piazza Giovanni XXIII
"Corri San Felice a Cancello", officially the "Città di San Felice a Cancello" Running Trophy, is the road race that every February draws runners from all over Campania to the Municipality of San Felice a Cancello, in the province of Caserta. It is a competitive 10-kilometer event certified by FIDAL, designed entirely within the municipal territory: a route that connects the hillside districts to the town center and, in just over half an hour of running for the top athletes, showcases the geography of a long and articulated town, spread out at the foot of the hills that separate the Caserta area from the Nola region.
The start is set in the Polvica district, the highest and most secluded part of the Municipality, where competitors are transported before the start. From there, the race descends toward the center along a route described by the organizers as technical and varied: fast stretches, descents to manage, and some challenging false flats that can break the rhythm. The finish line is in the heart of the town, in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, where the public gathers for the final kilometer and the awards ceremony. To be included in the final rankings, there is a maximum time limit of 90 minutes, a threshold designed to welcome amateur runners as well as the fastest competitive athletes.
The event is created by the Pro Loco Cancello Scalo ETS, which promotes it with the patronage of the Municipality of San Felice a Cancello and the collaboration of local sports and community groups: ASD Europa Sport e Cultura, the sports promotion body ASC, FIDAL for race certification, Camelot Sport for timing, and the Vespa Club San Felice a Cancello, which supports the race with its presence along the route. It is a typically Campanian organizational model, where the running race becomes an opportunity for collaboration between volunteers, the municipal administration, and sports associations.
Since the presentation of the first edition, the organizers have insisted on one point: the race is not just a competition, but a message of care for the territory. Walking or running through streets and districts that are usually traveled by car serves to rediscover them and, at the same time, to draw attention to respect for the environment and the decorum of public spaces. Mayor Emilio Nuzzo and Councilor Diamante Borzillo have repeatedly emphasized the value of sports promotion and community unity that the initiative brings with it.
The first edition took place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, with numerous clubs at the starting line and the victory of Gilio Iannone among the men and Francesca Maniaci among the women. The positive participation feedback convinced the organizers to continue the project: the second edition has been set for Sunday, February 22, 2026, confirming its placement on the last Sunday of February, a period when the Campanian running calendar is particularly lively and the mild climate of inland Campania allows for ideal running conditions.
Those who don't run will still find a good reason to be there. The race morning transforms the center of San Felice a Cancello into a small sports festival: streets reserved for athletes, volunteers at key points, families along the finishing straight, and the final awards ceremony in the square. It is also an opportunity to visit a town in Campania that is less traveled by tourist circuits, a short distance from Caserta and the Vanvitellian Royal Palace, and a stone's throw from the area of ancient Suessula.
After its debut in February 2025, the "Città di San Felice a Cancello" Running Trophy returned on Sunday, February 22, 2026, again on the last Sunday of the month. The date had already been announced at the end of the first edition by municipal administrators and organizers, determined to turn the race into a fixed appointment on the Campanian running calendar.
The race maintained the characteristics that made it popular: 10 competitive kilometers on the road with FIDAL certification, starting from the Polvica district and finishing in the center of San Felice a Cancello, in Piazza Giovanni XXIII. The route, entirely urban, alternates fast stretches with false flats and descents, with a maximum time of 90 minutes to be included in the rankings.
As in the first edition, the event was promoted by the Pro Loco Cancello Scalo ETS with the patronage of the Municipality of San Felice a Cancello and the collaboration of local sports associations, in a morning that involved athletes, volunteers, and families along the route.
The second edition of the "Città di San Felice a Cancello" Running Trophy was held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in the morning, confirming the formula of the 10 km competitive road race.
Exact times, registration fees, and the complete list of prizes were released by the Pro Loco Cancello Scalo ETS through its channels in the days preceding the event.
San Felice a Cancello is located in the province of Caserta, on the border with the Nola area. The Cancello Scalo district is served by the Cancello railway station, a junction on the lines connecting Naples and Caserta; from the station, the center and the districts can be reached in a few minutes by car or local connections. Those arriving by car can use the parking lots in the center, near Piazza Giovanni XXIII, where the race finish is located.
The race is a competitive 10 km event certified by FIDAL: registration takes place through affiliated clubs and the channels indicated by the organization, with an entry fee. To be included in the rankings, a maximum time of 90 minutes is provided. Details on fees, meeting points, transfer to the start, and services are released by the Pro Loco Cancello Scalo ETS in the weeks leading up to the race.

The route is urban but not flat: those aiming for a personal best would do well to study the ups and downs of the initial part in advance. For the public, the best spots are the starting area in Polvica and the final kilometer towards Piazza Giovanni XXIII, where the cheering is concentrated. At the end of February, mornings can be cool: layered clothing is recommended.
