The half marathon running through the streets of Gioia del Colle
Corri con Gioia is one of the most popular running events in Puglia. Every year, in late spring, the streets of the center of Gioia del Colle, a town in the Metropolitan City of Bari, turn into a long ribbon of asphalt traversed by thousands of runners. The event is organized by the Gioia Running sports association with the patronage of the Puglia Region and the Municipality of Gioia del Colle, and has become a permanent fixture on the regional FIDAL federal calendar.
The start and finish lines are located on Via Einaudi, in the area in front of the "P. Capurso" sports hall. The route winds through the main city arteries and iconic landmarks of Gioia del Colle, touching historic squares like Piazza Plebiscito and passing through the center near the Norman-Swabian Castle and the Rossini Municipal Theater. Along the entire course, the race is accompanied by live musical entertainment from numerous bands, making the day a true celebration of sport open to the entire community.
Corri con Gioia is more than just a race: for years, the event has combined competitive spirit with a strong commitment to charity. Simultaneously with the competitive race, the Corri con Patrizia event takes place—a non-competitive city walk of about 5 km open to all, dedicated to the memory of Patrizia Nettis, a journalist and athlete with Gioia Running who passed away prematurely. The race is supported by charitable initiatives for the Giovanni XXIII Pediatric Hospital in Bari, confirming the spirit with which the event involves families, enthusiasts, and curious onlookers every year.
Over the course of its editions, Corri con Gioia has established itself as the most popular race in the Bari province, capable of attracting over eighteen hundred registrants in its peak seasons and drawing sports clubs from all over Puglia. The event is also valid as a leg of the regional CorriPuglia circuit and represents an opportunity to discover the historic center of Gioia del Colle, its gastronomic traditions, and the hospitality of a city that literally hits the road for a day.
On Sunday, April 26, 2026, Gioia del Colle hosted the 12th edition of Corri con Gioia, the first race over the half marathon distance (21.0975 km certified and FIDAL-valid). The start was given at 9:00 AM from Via Einaudi, in the area in front of the "P. Capurso" sports hall. The route, consisting of two essentially identical city laps, passed through Via Sandro Pertini, Piazza XX Settembre, Via Garibaldi, Piazza Plebiscito, and the other main streets of the center, animated by live music from numerous bands.
Over eleven hundred athletes representing about 146 sports clubs took part in the event, confirming the prominent role the manifestation plays in the Puglian running landscape; the race was also included in the regional CorriPuglia circuit. Simultaneously, the non-competitive Corri con Patrizia walk took place, dedicated to the memory of Patrizia Nettis, in support of charitable projects for children.
