The road race in the heart of Aragona, through the streets of the historic center
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Corri Aragona is the road race that transforms the streets of Aragona, in the province of Agrigento, into a vibrant city circuit every late summer. Now in its twelfth edition as of 2025, the event has become a staple of the Sicilian running calendar and a festive highlight for the entire local community.
The track consists of a city loop of approximately 1,800 meters, repeated four times for a total distance of just over 7.2 kilometers. The start and finish lines are located on Via Roma, with athletes racing through Via Garibaldi, Via Mazzini, and Piazza Carmine in the heart of the historic center. It is a fast and technical course, made even more exciting by the crowds cheering from the sidelines.
Corri Aragona is a qualifying event for the FIDAL Agrigento Provincial Grand Prix and the ACSI Cup, ensuring a high turnout every year. Running clubs from the Agrigento area and much of central-southern Sicily participate, with athletes competing across Allievi, Juniores, Promesse, Seniores, and Master categories. The team rankings are highly competitive, with dozens of clubs vying for the top spot.
The event is organized by A.S.D. Amatori Aragona, which meticulously manages every detail, from race packs to refreshment stations. As president Giuseppe Collura noted, Corri Aragona "is not just about sport, but also about celebration and community": the town rallies around the event, blending athletic competition with social engagement and the promotion of the local area. Professional timing systems are used, and results are published online immediately after the race.
The dates for the 2026 edition of Corri Aragona have not yet been announced. The road race, a qualifying event for the FIDAL Agrigento Provincial Grand Prix, is usually held at the end of summer on the city circuit of Via Roma in Aragona (province of Agrigento), with the start and finish in the historic center. The detailed program, schedule, and registration procedures will be published by A.S.D. Amatori Aragona as soon as they become available.
