The international jazz festival at the Asioli Theatre in Correggio
Correggio Jazz is one of the longest-running and most appreciated jazz festivals in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, in May, the festival transforms the Bonifazio Asioli Municipal Theatre in Correggio, in the province of Reggio Emilia, into an international stage, featuring acclaimed masters, avant-garde projects, and emerging young musicians. The event is promoted and organized by the Municipality of Correggio together with Jazz Network and is part of the prestigious regional Crossroads circuit, which brings jazz to over twenty cities in Emilia-Romagna.
The strength of Correggio Jazz lies in the quality of its programming, capable of connecting the different facets of contemporary jazz: from American mainstream to the latest research, from electronic music to world music fusions. Over the years, the Asioli Theatre has hosted some of the most important performers on the international scene, maintaining a constant balance between tradition and innovation. The concerts take place in the theatre's intimate and refined hall, a setting that encourages close listening and a great connection between artists and the audience.
Alongside the major stars, Correggio Jazz has always dedicated special attention to new generations through the Correggio On Time project, a workshop-competition for musicians under 30. Selected groups participate in intensive coaching days and perform on the theatre's stage, creating a true breeding ground for emerging Italian and European jazz talents.
A historic town in the Reggio Emilia plains, Correggio is known as the birthplace of the great Renaissance painter Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio. The Bonifazio Asioli Municipal Theatre, located on Corso Cavour in the historic center, is the hub of the town's cultural life and the festival's historic venue. The event is a significant part of Emilia-Romagna's cultural offerings, a region long fertile for jazz and live music.
The 24th edition of Correggio Jazz, scheduled from May 14 to 30, 2026, at the Bonifazio Asioli Municipal Theatre, revolves around the theme Crossroads 2026 and offers an international lineup, organized by the Municipality of Correggio and Jazz Network. All concerts start at 9 PM.
The festival opens on May 14 with drummer Makaya McCraven and continues with the young saxophonist Isaiah Collier, who on May 20 pays tribute to John Coltrane. A double bill features Enrico Rava: on May 21 with Guano Padano in the La Giostra project and on May 23 with the Artchipel Orchestra conducted by Ferdinando Faraรฒ. There is also space for vocals with China Moses (May 26) and the trio of Hamid Drake with Pasquale Mirra and Aly Keita (May 27). The festival concludes with two exceptional events: the Fabrizio Bosso Quartet with Nico Gori on May 29 and Danilo Rea with Martux_m in the Sakamoto & Me project on May 30.
The event also includes space for young talent with Correggio On Time, which on May 16 features the group Quinto Elemento with free admission.
