About Anagni Infiorata

Every year, for the solemnity of Corpus Domini, the historic center of Anagni transforms into an ephemeral art gallery: flower petals, colored salt, sawdust, and coffee grounds form a long carpet that guides the procession to the Cathedral. The 2026 edition marked a turning point, featuring a single large collective work along the main street, the result of the nocturnal efforts of parishes, associations, and citizens of this town in the province of Frosinone, in the heart of the Ciociaria region.

The Corpus Domini Infiorata in Anagni

On the solemnity of Corpus Domini, the town of Anagni, in the province of Frosinone, renews one of the most deeply felt religious traditions of the Ciociaria region and the entire Lazio area. The historic center of the famous City of Popes dresses in color: the main street and the alleys leading up to the Cathedral are covered with floral compositions that form a long, sacred carpet, destined to be crossed by the procession carrying the Blessed Sacrament.

Ephemeral art made of petals

The Infiorata is an art form as wonderful as it is fleeting. Entire stretches of road are transformed into open-air art galleries thanks to simple, natural materials: flower petals, colored salt, sawdust, coffee grounds, rice, and flour become the raw materials for elaborate paintings, often depicting sacred subjects. Each composition lasts only a few hours—just enough time to be admired before being walked upon by the procession; it is precisely this fragility that makes it so precious.

The 2026 edition: a single, great collective work

On June 7, 2026, the Anagni Infiorata reached a major milestone. For the first time, a spontaneous coordination brought together the city's parishes, associations, committees, and individual citizens around the same table with a shared goal: to create one single, great Infiorata along the entire main street, moving beyond the logic of separate panels to embrace the entire community in one immense floral design. The result was a very long, colorful carpet that ideally and physically united the citizenry, from the most hidden alleys to the majestic Cathedral.

A community working through the night

Behind the visual wonder lies an enormous organizational effort. Volunteers of all ages work shoulder to shoulder throughout the preceding night: the elderly guard the secrets of the tradition while young people and children learn to compose the designs, in a passing of the torch that renews the bond between generations every year. The project is supported by the Municipality, the Pro Loco, the Workers' Society, the confraternities, the historic districts, and numerous local businesses.

Anagni, City of Popes

Stopping in Anagni during the Infiorata also means discovering one of the most fascinating medieval villages in Lazio. The town, home to four popes and famous for the so-called Slap of Anagni, houses a splendid Romanesque Cathedral with its frescoed crypt, a jewel of European medieval art. The Infiorata offers the perfect opportunity to combine popular devotion, art, and the discovery of an extraordinary historical heritage in the heart of the province of Frosinone.

Anagni Infiorata — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Corpus Domini Infiorata took place on Sunday, June 7, in Anagni, marking a turning point in the event's history: for the first time, the traditional separate floral panels gave way to a single large collective work along the entire main street, up to the Cathedral.

Corpus Domini Infiorata 2026

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the historic center of Anagni transformed into an immense carpet of flowers. This edition innovated the tradition: overcoming the fragmentation of individual panels, parishes, associations, committees, and citizens joined forces to create one single, great Infiorata along the entire main street, a very long floral design that connected the village alleys to the majestic Cathedral.

The Municipality, the Pro Loco, the Workers' Society, the confraternities, the historic districts, and numerous businesses participated in the work, which continued throughout the previous night. The day concluded with the solemn celebration in the Cathedral, the homily by Archbishop Monsignor Santo Marcianò, and the traditional procession of the Blessed Sacrament over the carpet of petals.
