The Corpus Domini festival: faith, floral carpets, and Langa traditions
The Corpus Domini in Trezzo Tinella is one of the most cherished events in this small hilltop village in the Province of Cuneo, deep in the Piedmontese Langhe. For a full day, the town center comes alive with faith, culture, craftsmanship, and contemporary art, bridging the religious solemnity of Corpus Domini with the preservation of Langa's folk memories and traditions. The event is organized by the La Fonte del Tinella cultural association, with the support of the Municipality of Trezzo Tinella and the local Pro Loco.
The most evocative moment occurs in the afternoon, when the village streets turn into a path of colors and symbols. The community creates the traditional infiorata, a carpet of petals and flowers tracing the procession route, while antique embroidered family linens are hung from windows and along the streets—a gesture that recalls a deeply rooted custom of the Piedmontese countryside. It is an image that captures the town's identity and the bond between generations.
Alongside the religious celebration, the day offers a rich cultural program. In the afternoon, at the Chiesa dei Battuti, a meeting dedicated to the memory and traditions of Langa is held, featuring the L'Arvangia association, guardians of the region's literary and rural history. During this event, the Cavaliere della Luna award is presented. The Chiesa dei Battuti also hosts a contemporary art exhibition, signaling a dialogue between heritage and modern creation.
The festival opens in the morning with a craft market, enlivening the historic center with local products, artistic creations, and handmade goods. At noon, visitors can enjoy lunch in town thanks to the Pro Loco (by reservation) or choose the floral-themed menus at local restaurants. Adding further charm to the route, new murals dedicated to Langa culture are inaugurated along the main street, turning the village into an open-air gallery.
Visiting Trezzo Tinella during Corpus Domini means discovering the authentic soul of the Langhe: a land of vineyards, hills, and traditions, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The festival is free to enter and offers a perfect opportunity to combine spirituality, culture, and slow tourism in one of the most characteristic villages of Piedmont.
The 2026 edition, organized by the La Fonte del Tinella association with the support of Mayor Cerrino and the municipal administration, confirmed the festival's vocation to combine spirituality with the enhancement of the territory. Numerous volunteers, exhibitors, and artists made the day a success, experienced as a moment of strong community belonging.
Trezzo Tinella is located in the Langhe, in the Province of Cuneo. By car, the most convenient access is from the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway (Alba exit), then following the hill roads toward the village. The nearest train station is in Alba, from which you can continue by car or local bus services.
