The neighbourhood parish festival in Carpi, featuring Emilian cuisine and solidarity
The Corpus Domini Festival is the parish festival that every year, in June, enlivens the neighbourhood around Piazzale Francia, in the southern area of Carpi, in the province of Modena. Organised by the Parish of Corpus Domini, the festival originated around the liturgical solemnity of Corpus Domini and has over time become one of the most cherished events in the neighbourhood community, capable of attracting families, volunteers, and visitors from all over the city and the Bassa Modenese.
The heart of the festival are the gastronomic evenings, spread over two weekends. Under the marquees of the parish stand, you can taste the dishes of the Emilian tradition: tortelli verdi (green filled pasta), gramigna con ragรน (a type of pasta with meat sauce), grilled meats such as salsicce ai ferri (grilled sausages) and grigliata mista (mixed grill), as well as more informal options like hamburgers and mortadella. The food stand, bar, and games generally open around 7 PM, while the evening continues with entertainment and shows.
Each edition of the festival proposes a theme that accompanies the decorations and entertainment. For 2026, the chosen theme is 'Fabulous 90s โ Eat and Play with a Leap into Memories', an invitation to relive the atmospheres and suggestions of that decade through food, music, and games for all ages.
The Corpus Domini Festival is designed as a celebration for the whole family: there is a charity raffle and an evening entirely dedicated to games and activities for children and young people. The atmosphere is that of the intimate and familiar Emilian parish festivals, where lunch or dinner becomes an occasion for meeting and friendship among neighbourhood residents and visitors.
A distinctive feature of the festival is its strong commitment to solidarity. The initiative 'Aggiungi un posto a tavola' (Add a place at the table), now in its seventh edition in 2026, includes a dinner offered to families supported by the Parish Caritas Listening Centre: during the evenings, you can purchase 'Buoni Cena Sospesi' (Suspended Dinner Vouchers) to support the initiative. In the past, the parish has also chosen to promote the desserts from 'Sapori di libertร ' (Flavours of Freedom), a pastry workshop at Mantua Prison, as a gesture of inclusion and attention towards the most vulnerable people.
The festival remains linked to the liturgical celebration from which it takes its name. The solemnity of Corpus Domini is celebrated with a solemn city Mass, followed by the traditional procession that winds through the neighbourhood streets and concludes with the Eucharistic blessing. It is in this intertwining of faith, tradition, and village festival that the Corpus Domini Festival finds its most authentic identity, a living expression of the community of Carpi and the Emilia-Romagna region.
The Corpus Domini Festival 2026 in Carpi will take place over two weekends, on the evenings of June 20, 21, and 22 and June 27, 28, and 29, at the Parish of Corpus Domini in Piazzale Francia. This edition is dedicated to the theme 'Fabulous 90s โ Eat and Play with a Leap into Memories'.
