About Conzert d'aisciöda

Every spring, the Müjiga de Badia (Musikkapelle Abtei) takes the stage at the J. B. Runcher event hall for its traditional Conzert d'aisciöda, the annual spring concert. This event marks the start of the new season for the band from the Ladin village of Badia in Alta Badia, featuring a program of wind music that blends classical pieces, film scores, and contemporary compositions, showcasing a musical tradition upheld in the Ladin valleys for decades.

The spring concert of the Badia band

The Conzert d'aisciöda — in the Ladin language of Val Badia, aisciöda means spring — is the annual concert with which the Müjiga de Badia (known in German as Musikkapelle Abtei) welcomes the arrival of the warmer season. The event is held at the J. B. Runcher event hall, located on Str. San Linert in Badia, within the municipality of Badia/Abtei in Alta Badia, in the autonomous province of Bolzano, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region.

A Ladin band tradition

The music bands of the Ladin valleys have preserved a precious tradition for generations: they are a cornerstone of village social life and offer young people the opportunity to discover and cultivate their musical talent. The Badia band brings together musicians of all ages, united by their passion for band culture and wind music. Throughout the 20th century, the ensemble grew significantly thanks to Giuvani Valentin da Valgiarëi (1904-1994), who served as bandmaster for over forty years, elevating its standards and consolidating its prestige.

The evening program

The concert features a varied repertoire of wind band music: traditional marches and overtures, symphonic and sacred pieces, film themes, and original compositions for wind orchestra. The evening is both a celebration and a showcase of the work carried out by the musicians throughout the year, performing for the community of Badia and visitors to Alta Badia.
