An archery competition in the woods of the Cusio region

The Compagnia Arcieri Bicocca Archery Tournament is a sporting event held in Madonna del Sasso, a small town in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont, overlooking Lake Orta. The event takes archers through the trails and woods surrounding the village of Boleto, at the foot of the famous Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso, in one of the most picturesque natural settings in Upper Piedmont.

What is FIARC field archery

The competition follows the regulations of FIARC (Italian Federation of Field Archers), a discipline that simulates hunting archery in a natural environment. Along a course set up in the hills and woods, three-dimensional animal targets are placed at unknown distances: the archer must judge the space and the shot without references, testing precision, experience, and the ability to read the terrain. It is a practice that combines sport, concentration, and contact with nature.

A championship-qualifying event

This edition is more than just a local gathering: the event is valid for the 2026 Liguria/Piedmont regional championship and counts towards qualification for the 2027 Italian championships. This draws registered archers from across the northwest to Madonna del Sasso for a day of intense and well-attended competition.

Meeting point at Bar Bianconiglio

The meeting and starting point is Bar Bianconiglio, at Via per Boleto 11, where registration confirmation and the distribution of final rankings take place. From here, archers head to the competition course set up in the surrounding area. Registration is handled exclusively through the FIARC management system.

Sport and territory

The competition is also an opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area: the village of Boleto, the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Orta, and the panoramic views from the churchyard over the Mottarone and the Alps. A blend of sporting activity and landscape that makes this event more than just a standard competition.
