Great classical music in the Romanesque Church of San Secondo, nestled in the hills of the Asti Monferrato
Colline in Musica is a classical music festival that traverses the hills of the Langhe, Roero, Monferrato, and Alta Langa, bringing high-level concerts to churches, castles, wineries, and heritage sites. Organized by Roero Cultural Events, the festival unites major international names and emerging young talents under the artistic direction of Adrian Pinzaru. Each edition is developed around a theme: following the "Destinies" of 2025, the sixth edition in 2026 explores the theme of "Roots," understood as cultural memory, belonging to a territory, and the continuity of musical tradition over the centuries.
Among the festival's stops, the Municipality of Cortazzone, in the Province of Asti, hosts one of the most anticipated concerts in the stunning Romanesque Church of San Secondo di Mongiglietto. Isolated on the hills of the Asti Monferrato, this church is one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Piedmont: its brick decorations and sculpted capitals create an extraordinarily evocative setting, perfect for listening to early music.
In the 2026 edition, the Cortazzone concert is entrusted to the Ensemble Armoniosa, which proposes an itinerary through Italian music of the 17th and 18th centuries. The program features works by:
A repertoire that recounts the splendor of the Italian Baroque and its influence throughout Europe, enhancing the acoustics and atmosphere of the Romanesque church.
Attending Colline in Musica in Cortazzone is much more than just listening to a concert: it is an opportunity to discover the hidden heritage of the Asti Monferrato, immersed in vineyards and hills. Free admission makes the initiative accessible to everyone, from early music enthusiasts to visitors wishing to experience an afternoon of culture in one of the most beautiful places in Piedmont.
