An appointment with classical music at the Church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo in Rueglio
Some events do not need grand stages to be moving: the Classical Music Concert hosted by the Municipality of Rueglio in the Parish Church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo is one of them. We are in the Valchiusella, one of the greenest valleys in the province of Turin, Piedmont, where classical music finds a natural home amidst the naves of a church with warm, intimate acoustics.
The star of the event is the Associazione Liceo Musicale di Rivarolo Canavese, one of the most vibrant educational institutions in the Canavese area, invited by the local administration for the town's concert season. The program, built around Baroque and classical repertoire, features a rotation of chamber ensembles and young soloists, in a dialogue between strings, woodwinds, and guitar that highlights the talent of the new generation of musicians.
More than just a concert, this is an opportunity to hear the work of an association that has been training instrumentalists and singers for years, giving them the chance to debut before a real audience. The intimate and silent setting allows you to capture every nuance of the performance: the phrasing of the strings, the breath of the flute, the delicacy of the classical guitar.
The initiative is part of an increasingly established tradition of bringing great music to small towns, enhancing the architectural and spiritual heritage of the Alpine villages of the Canavese. For those visiting Rueglio and the Valchiusella, it is also a way to discover a territory made of trails, lakes, and ancient hamlets, accompanied by the notes of an afternoon dedicated to beauty.
The collaboration between the Municipality of Rueglio and the Liceo Musicale di Rivarolo has been renewed for several editions now, a sign of a solid bond between the administration and the local musical scene. Each year the program changes, but the spirit remains intact: to offer the community and visitors a high-quality concert, free and open to all, in the heart of the Turin province.
The concert on April 12, 2026, in the Church of Santi Filippo e Giacomo in Rueglio was entirely dedicated to the Baroque repertoire and marked two important debuts for the ensembles of the Associazione Liceo Musicale di Rivarolo Canavese.
The first part featured a string trio, directed by Lucia Sacerdoni, with Erica Calcio-Gaudino and Francesco Acatrinei on violins and Gianpaolo Palladino on cello. The second part featured the chamber orchestra, conducted by the young Maestro Enrico Finotello, accompanied by soloists Federica Castiello and Sem Panero on flute and Nicolò Simonetta on guitar.
Program entirely dedicated to Baroque music.
