Classic and More is the classical and chamber music festival that enlivens the municipalities of the Bassa Atesina (Unterland) every summer, the southernmost part of the autonomous province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The festival was born with the idea of bringing great music away from the main circuits, into the civic halls, churches, and historic squares of the towns in this bilingual land. The Municipality of Trodena nel parco naturale/Truden im Naturpark is one of the festival's stops and hosts one of the concerts in its Casa delle Associazioni (Vereinshaus), on Via Andreas Hofer.

An inter-municipal festival in the heart of the Unterland

The distinctive feature of Classic and More is its itinerant and inter-municipal nature: created as a collaborative project between the municipalities of the Bassa Atesina, the festival brings together about ten towns — including Ora, Bronzolo, Cortaccia, Cortina sulla Strada del Vino, Egna, Montagna, Vadena, Salorno, Termeno, and Trodena — which take turns hosting the festival's concerts. Each evening changes location, allowing the audience to discover a different corner of the territory each time. Trodena, the only municipality in the area at a higher altitude and immersed in the Monte Corno Nature Park, offers the festival a mountain setting that is unique compared to the wine-growing villages of the valley floor.

Classical music in a new guise

The festival presents itself as a project that unites tradition and new ideas: alongside the evening concerts of the great repertoire, the program alternates with educational events (the "Educational" concerts dedicated to schools), evenings for families and young people, forays into dance, and proposals that combine sound and image. At the center remains chamber music — string quartets, wind ensembles, trios, and solo formations — with an artistic level curated by the festival's management, which over the years has brought South Tyrolean musicians and international guests to the Bassa Atesina.

Free admission and popular appeal

One of the hallmarks of Classic and More is that it is free of charge: the concerts are open to the public, with the possibility of a voluntary donation. This choice makes the festival an opportunity to bring high-quality music to everyone, from families to young people and the elderly, making it a beloved event for the communities of the various towns in the Unterland. The festival is supported by the Autonomous Region and the cultural departments of the municipalities involved.

Trodena and the Monte Corno Nature Park

Nestled at over 1,100 meters above sea level, Trodena nel parco naturale/Truden im Naturpark is a bilingual village surrounded by forests and meadows, a gateway to the Monte Corno Nature Park.
