The street art festival of the Frosinone area

Circus Zone is a contemporary circus and street art festival that brings summer evenings to life in Sgurgola, a village perched on the slopes of the Lepini Mountains in the province of Frosinone, in southern Lazio. Launched in 2022 from an idea by Dr. Alberto Longo, the event has built a distinct identity edition after edition: high-quality, popular entertainment that is free and accessible to all, turning town squares into open-air stages where the line between performer and spectator dissolves.

From Sgurgola to Anagni: a growing festival

The first four editions were held entirely in Sgurgola, with Piazza Arringo serving as the beating heart of the festivities. With the fifth edition in June 2026, the festival took a leap forward: thanks to the joint patronage of both municipalities, the four evenings were split between Sgurgola and Anagni, the famous City of Popes, bringing contemporary circus to the historic center of Anagni as well. This expansion confirms the festival's steady growth and its deep roots in the Ciociaria region.

Contemporary circus, magic, and street theater

The Circus Zone program weaves together various live performance styles: circus acts, acrobatics, comedy sketches, magic tricks, and live music follow one another in a crescendo designed for all ages. The 2026 edition featured the companies Circo 42 and ArteMakìa, both specializing in contemporary circus, using different yet equally engaging languages that blend music, color, and high-impact staging, often touching on current themes.

A participatory format, from aperitivo to late night

The festival's formula is its hallmark: not a show to watch while seated, but an experience to live. Each evening accompanies the public from aperitivo hour until late at night, with squares lighting up with color and laughter filling the village streets. Families, children, and adults become an integral part of the show, in the best tradition of street theater.

Organization and institutional support

Circus Zone is promoted by C.P.C.C.L. with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the patronage of the Municipalities of Sgurgola and Anagni, and the collaboration of the local Pro Loco associations. Working alongside founder Alberto Longo is a team of local collaborators committed for years to the cultural enhancement of the Frosinone area. The success of the festival also led to the Festival Circus Mundi – The City That Dreams project, starting in September 2026 under the patronage of the Lazio Region, which will bring contemporary circus shows and workshops for children to other municipalities in the province of Frosinone.
