Electronic music at high altitude on the snows of Monte Cimone
CIMA Festival is one of the most original winter events in Emilia-Romagna: an electronic music festival held at high altitude, on the snows of Monte Cimone, the highest peak in the northern Apennines. The event takes place across two municipalities in the province of Modena, Sestola and Fanano, offering a formula that combines winter sports, après-ski, and big names from the Italian clubbing scene.
During the day, the festival moves up to Rifugio Zambelli, in Cimoncino di Fanano, at an altitude of 1430 meters. Here, between runs, the Day Time takes place: a large outdoor après-ski with DJ sets on the ski slopes, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Admission to this daytime part is free, and the atmosphere is that of an open-air mountain party, with views of the snow-capped peaks of the Apennines.
In the evening, the party moves down to Sestola, where the Sports Hall is transformed into a club for the Night Time. Until late at night, people dance to the rhythm of house, techno, and electronic music, with a sound and lighting system worthy of a large disco. It's the pulsating heart of the festival, attracting thousands of young people from across the region and beyond.
Over the years, CIMA Festival has brought some of the most acclaimed DJs from the Italian and European scene to the Apennines, with names ranging from house to techno and the most sought-after underground sounds. The festival has built a solid reputation among electronic music enthusiasts, becoming a regular fixture on the winter calendar.
What makes CIMA Festival truly special is its setting: the Cimone ski resort, the snowy slopes, the mountain huts, and the villages of the Modena Apennines. The festival celebrates the territory and its traditions, offering holiday packages with accommodation, shuttle service, and experiential activities to discover the Emilia-Romagna mountains. A new and youthful way to experience the winter season in Emilia-Romagna.
The sixth edition of CIMA Festival was held on January 24 and 25, 2026, in Sestola and Fanano, in the province of Modena. The Night Time on Saturday, January 24, animated the Sestola Sports Hall until late at night.
Among the guests of the 2026 edition were DJ Ralf, Alex Neri, Cuartero, Memoryman aka Uovo, Lorenzo de Blanck, I.G.N.A., Modular, and Neverdogs, for a lineup that spanned house and techno. The promotion for residents of the Modena Apennine municipalities was also confirmed, with discounted entry during certain hours.
