Literature, art and philosophy on the hills of Amelia
In Amelia, an ancient city in the province of Terni in southern Umbria, Ciclopica. Giganti in Collina is the festival that intertwines literature, art and philosophy every summer. The name itself evokes the idea of 'giants' of thought gathering on the hills of Amelia, in an event that has managed to build a rare balance between the depth of its content and the lightness of the summer setting.
The programme alternates conferences and dialogues with nationally renowned guests โ classicists, essayists, writers, philosophers, educators โ with theatre performances, concerts and educational events. The festival venues range from Villa Aspreta to the historic centre of Amelia, and to the local wineries, in a constant dialogue between culture and landscape.
Promoted by the Giganti in Collina association, the festival is free to enter and is also supported by the community's contribution. Each edition revolves around a theme, often inspired by verses and literary suggestions, which serves as a common thread for the meetings. Ciclopica is now one of the most recognisable summer cultural offerings in the Amerino area and southern Umbria, capable of bringing top names from the Italian cultural scene to a small, evocative setting.
The 2026 edition, the 10th, of Ciclopica. Giganti in Collina takes place in Amelia from June 25 to 28. The festival of literature, art and philosophy confirms its formula, alternating conferences and dialogues with renowned guests with theatre performances, concerts and educational events.
As per tradition, the festival venues range from Villa Aspreta to the historic centre of Amelia and the local wineries. The detailed programme for the tenth anniversary edition, including guest names and event times, will be published by the organisers on the website ameliaciclopica.it in the weeks preceding the event.
The 2026 edition spans four days, from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, June 28, between Villa Aspreta, the historic centre of Amelia and the local wineries, featuring conferences and dialogues with classicists, essayists, writers and philosophers, theatre performances, concerts and educational events.
The detailed programme for the tenth anniversary, including guest names, event titles and times, has not yet been published and will be announced by the Giganti in Collina association on ameliaciclopica.it.
