Three days of taste and creativity: Cicchettando per Ciosa e Marina is the challenge between the bacari and local eateries in Chioggia (Venice) for the best cicchetto, the iconic Venetian traditional appetizer. A jury visits the participating venues and evaluates the dishes for quality, creativity, and use of local ingredients such as anchovies, clams, moeche, and Chioggia radicchio. An authentic opportunity to experience the city between Riva Vena and the historic center.

The festival of the Chioggia cicchetto

Cicchettando per Ciosa e Marina is the food and wine event that celebrates the cicchetto, the small appetizer of Venetian tradition which, in Chioggia, a lagoon city in the province of Venice, takes on the flavors of the sea and the local garden. For three days, the bacari and local eateries in the center compete with creativity.

A taste competition

The heart of the event is the competition between the participating venues: a qualified jury visits the bacari and evaluates the cicchetti for quality, creativity, and the use of local ingredients — anchovies, clams, moeche (moulting crabs), and the famous Chioggia radicchio. The Riva Vena area is among the protagonists, with its renewed vitality.

More than just a tasting, Cicchettando is an invitation to discover Chioggia through its seafood cuisine and the conviviality of its bacari. Promoted by the Municipality with the support of local stakeholders, the event enhances the local gastronomic tradition and the pairing of cicchetti with drinks, in a journey that intertwines taste, culture, and the identity of the lagoon city.

The 5th edition of Cicchettando per Ciosa e Marina took place from April 20 to 22, 2026, for the first time also including Sottomarina: the competition among bacari for the best cicchetto, with a jury awarding quality, creativity, and local ingredients. The winner was Ash Cafè with 'Mezzo Pan'.

The 2026 edition, the 5th, of Cicchettando per Ciosa e Marina was held from April 20 to 22, involving Sottomarina for the first time. A qualified jury visited the participating bacari, evaluating the cicchetti for quality, creativity, and the use of local ingredients such as anchovies, clams, moeche, and Chioggia radicchio. Ash Cafè won with 'Mezzo Pan'.
