About Guinea Fowl Feast

In Arzerini, a hamlet of Brugine in the province of Padua, the Ancient Guinea Fowl Feast lights up for three weekends between September and October, one of the most cherished gastronomic events in the Saccisica area. Born in honor of the Madonna del Rosario (Our Lady of the Rosary), the festival offers a covered and heated stand every evening where guinea fowl is the queen: gnocchi, bigoli, and pappardelle with guinea fowl ragù, roasted or grilled guinea fowl, but also stewed horse meat and Vicentina-style cod. Live music and ballroom dancing accompany a village tradition that has been renewed for over twenty years.

The Guinea Fowl Feast in the heart of Saccisica

The Ancient Guinea Fowl Feast takes place in Arzerini, a hamlet of the Municipality of Brugine, in the province of Padua, along Via Arzerini next to the small church. It is one of the most deeply rooted gastronomic festivals in the lower Padua region and traditionally spans three weekends between September and October, coinciding with the feast of the Madonna del Rosario to which the local oratory has been dedicated since the 17th century.

Guinea Fowl, the Queen of the Table

The signature dish is naturally guinea fowl, offered roasted or grilled, and also featured in the first courses: gnocchi, bigoli, or pappardelle with guinea fowl ragù. The large, heated gastronomic stand also offers mixed grills, stewed horse meat, Vicentina-style cod, and traditional Venetian side dishes such as French fries and beans in sauce, all accompanied by local wines.

Music, Dancing, and Community

Every evening, the feast is enlivened by live music, with bands and orchestras offering various genres and classic ballroom dancing. Organized by the La Faraona Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Brugine and the work of many volunteers, the festival is a meeting point for the entire community of Arzerini and neighboring villages, attracting visitors from all over the province of Padua.

Guinea Fowl Feast — edition 2026

The Ancient Guinea Fowl Feast returns to Arzerini di Brugine for three weekends: September 19-20-21 and 26-27-28, then October 3-4-5, 2026. Every evening, the heated gastronomic stand opens with roasted and grilled guinea fowl, first courses with guinea fowl ragù, grills, and traditional Venetian dishes, accompanied by live music and ballroom dancing.

The 2026 edition of the Ancient Guinea Fowl Feast unfolds over three consecutive weekends between September and October. The gastronomic stand on Via Arzerini, covered and heated, offers guinea fowl in all its variations every evening along with other Venetian specialties, while the stage hosts orchestras and bands for dancing evenings.
