Food and wine festival with fojata, truffle, and live music
In Cerreto di Spoleto, in the province of Perugia, the Ciarlatano Festival is one of the summer's most beloved events. Organized by the Pro Cerreto Tourist Association, it takes place every year for three evenings in mid-August and focuses on two essential ingredients: the excellent cuisine of the Valnerina and live music. The village square becomes the meeting point for residents, holidaymakers, and tourists.
From 7:30 PM, the food stalls offer typical local dishes: fojata (the traditional stuffed pastry), black truffle with tagliatelle and truffle-based main courses, bruschetta with oil and tomato, cured meats, cheeses, and desserts. Simple, genuine cuisine that tells the gastronomic story of this corner of Umbria.
Every evening, the festival continues with orchestras and bands â over the years, groups like the Pamela Band and the Ivano Pescari Band have performed â and an open-air disco night starting late in the evening. The Ciarlatano Festival thus serves as a popular prelude to the Ciarlatano Festival, the street theatre event promoted by the Municipality, which is held the following week.
The Ciarlatano Festival traditionally takes place from August 16th to 18th in the historic center square of Cerreto di Spoleto. Admission is free; you only pay for what you consume at the stalls.
The Ciarlatano Festival returns to Cerreto di Spoleto from August 16 to 18, 2026, confirming the historic dates of the event organized by the Pro Cerreto Tourist Association. For three evenings, the village square hosts food stalls with typical dishes from the Valnerina â fojata, truffle, bruschetta, porchetta â and evenings of live music with orchestras and bands.
The details of the musical groups will be announced by Pro Cerreto on their channels in the weeks preceding the event.
