The non-competitive walk held on the second Sunday of August on the Paganella plateau
The Ciaminada de Fai is one of the most beloved and long-standing events in Fai della Paganella, a small town in the Province of Trento overlooking the Adige Valley, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. For over forty years, every second Sunday of August, the Paganella plateau fills with walkers of all ages: from the youngest children to grandparents, the Ciaminada is a truly inclusive non-competitive event where participation matters more than performance.
The event offers two tracks designed for different needs:
The Ciaminada Classica includes prizes for the top three finishers in the men's, women's, and youth categories (under 10 and under 15), as well as special awards for the largest group, the youngest participant, and the oldest participant.
Upon returning from the routes, the day continues with the Mushroom Festival, the most convivial moment of the event: all participants are served traditional polenta with mushrooms, a signature dish of Trentino mountain cuisine that combines the simplicity of polenta with the richness of local forest mushrooms. It is an opportunity to gather in the square, share a meal, and celebrate the identity of a community that has passed this tradition down from generation to generation.
Organized by volunteers and the Consorzio Fai Vacanze, the Ciaminada de Fai is much more than just a walk: it is a village festival that blends gentle sport, contact with nature, and folk traditions in one of the most evocative locations in the Brenta Dolomites. Nestled in the woods of the plateau, just a stone's throw from the Parco del Respiro, the event is the perfect occasion to discover Fai della Paganella and Trentino in summer while walking in good company.
