Christmas begins in the crotti

In Prata Camportaccio, a municipality in Valchiavenna in the province of Sondrio, the Christmas Markets in the Crotti have a very special charm. The crotti are natural cavities and stone cellars where the sorel circulates, a constant cold air current that has been used for centuries to preserve wines and cheeses: unique environments of Valchiavenna tradition, which in December are adorned with lights and Christmas atmospheres.

Stalls, flavours, and nativity scenes

Along Via Ezio Vanoni, in the crotti area near the Town Hall, the stalls offer crafts, typical products, and local flavours, while among the alleys, you can discover nativity scenes and decorated corners. The Compagnia del Toorc, together with the Municipality, manages hospitality and catering, with the possibility of dining in the areas set up among the crotti.

A celebration for all ages

There is no shortage of entertainment for children, with a Christmas village, inflatables, face painting, and medieval games, and live music that accompanies visitors among the stands. Between concerts by students from the Garibaldi Institute of Chiavenna and itinerant bands, the Christmas Markets in the Crotti of Prata Camportaccio, in Lombardy, have become an unmissable event for those who want to experience the magic of an alpine Christmas.
