Choirs and voices among the beech forests of Faito, overlooking the Gulf of Naples
The Choral Music Festival is the event that, from September 17 to 21, 2026, brings choirs and musical groups to Monte Faito, in the territory of Vico Equense, in the province of Naples. This is not a theater performance: here, the stage is the mountain itself, with its beech forests, panoramic clearings, and the fresh late-summer air found at over a thousand meters in altitude, while the Gulf of Naples opens up below and the Sorrento Peninsula stretches out on the other side.
The festival spans five consecutive days, with events held daily from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The invited choral ensembles take turns performing, following a format that prioritizes open-air listening and direct engagement with the audience. According to the organizers, the initiative offers the chance to enjoy performances and moments of connection where music becomes a tool for gathering and enhancing the local area: singing, in short, as a way to bring people back to the mountain and help them rediscover it.
The event is part of the Vico d'Estate calendar, the collection of events with which the City of Vico Equense accompanies the entire season, from late May to mid-September, featuring shows, popular traditions, sports, and gastronomic excellence. The Choral Music Festival is placed at the end of the program, right after the famous Pizza a Vico and the Faito Psichรฉ festival, effectively marking its conclusion: a farewell to summer entrusted to voices, in a setting quite different from the town squares.
Monte Faito belongs to the Lattari Mountains chain and is shared between the municipalities of Vico Equense and Castellammare di Stabia. Its name derives from the large beech woods that cover its slopes, a rare environment at this latitude and so close to the sea. Trails, clearings, and viewpoints make it a popular hiking destination all year round, while the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo guards its spiritual dimension. The festival integrates into this landscape with a light touch: no large structures, just voices spreading among the trees.
The festival is promoted by the Associazione Pro Faito Luigi Torino ETS, a local volunteer organization active for decades in environmental protection and mountain promotion, which also manages other initiatives of the summer calendar on Faito. The festival is part of the official program of the City of Vico Equense, which announces it through its institutional channels and the municipal tourism portal.
The daytime schedule, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, suggests the best way to experience it: head up in the morning, walk along the trails, stop to listen to the choirs, and stay until the afternoon when the light over the gulf becomes softer. It is an experience also suitable for families and those who do not usually attend choral music concerts, because the natural setting breaks down all formality. For those visiting Campania in September, when the heat subsides and the coast empties, it is also an opportunity to discover a lesser-known side of the Sorrento Peninsula: the mountain side.
The dates have been made official by the City of Vico Equense as part of the Vico d'Estate 2026 calendar: the festival will be held from September 17 to 21, 2026 on Monte Faito, with daily performances from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The initiative is promoted by the Associazione Pro Faito Luigi Torino ETS and brings choirs and musical groups to the mountain, offering the public performances and moments of connection where music becomes a tool for gathering and enhancing the local area. The festival is the final event of the Vico summer season, following Faito Psichรฉ (September 7-11) and Pizza a Vico (September 15-17).
The detailed calendar of individual days - guest choirs, performance times, and exact meeting points on the mountain - has not yet been released: the Municipality has announced that the program will be published on the official channels of the City of Vico Equense and on the goVicoEquense portal in the days preceding the event.
The information already confirmed is as follows:
The organizers remind visitors that all events in the calendar may be subject to change: it is advisable to check the information before traveling.
Monte Faito can be reached from Vico Equense by driving along the Via Raffaele Bosco road, which climbs toward the Faito plateaus. Vico Equense is served by the EAV Circumvesuviana railway line (Naples-Sorrento); from the station, EAV has activated a direct bus connection to Faito, established after the closure of the Faito cable car following the accident in April 2025. Before setting off, it is advisable to check the EAV channels to see which services (bus and cable car from Castellammare di Stabia) are actually active during the event days.
Performances take place daily from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, from September 17 to 21, 2026.
These are outdoor mountain events: comfortable or hiking shoes are recommended, along with a light jacket for the afternoon and water. At altitude, even in September, the temperature is significantly lower than on the coast.
