The symbol of Valtellina cured meat takes centre stage in Chiuro
In Chiuro, in the province of Sondrio, bresaola is one of the products that best represents the gastronomic tradition of Valtellina: a lean cured meat, made from beef, salted and aged in the fresh Alpine air, now recognised as IGP. The Bresaola Festival dedicates a summer celebration to it, full of flavour.
The event takes place at the La Colonia Sports Centre and is organised by the Pro Loco of Chiuro. The programme includes evenings with menus based on Valtellina bresaola, accompanied by live music and dancing evenings with an orchestra. For the little ones, an inflatable play area is set up, making the festival suitable for the whole family.
The Bresaola Festival is one of the events that liven up Chiuro's summer, expressing the vitality of the Pro Loco and the convivial spirit of the Valtellina villages. With good food, dancing, and socialising, the event attracts residents and visitors from neighbouring towns, confirming the role of gastronomy as a community binder in the province of Sondrio.
The 2026 edition of the Chiuro Bresaola Festival takes place over two evenings, Sunday, July 19th and Monday, July 20th, at the La Colonia Sports Centre. The Pro Loco offers menus based on Valtellina bresaola, with dinner starting at 7:30 PM, a dancing evening with the orchestra The Whites from 9:00 PM, and an inflatable play area for children.
