Three days of festivities in the San Giacomo district

The Children's Festival and Bauernmarkt in San Giacomo is a summer highlight that brings Piazza San Giacomo to life in the heart of the San Giacomo (St. Jakob) district of Laives, in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. Organized by Confesercenti Alto Adige with the patronage of the Municipality of Laives, the event aims to promote the local area, foster social connection, and support neighborhood businesses.

Music and dancing under the stars

The program spans an entire July weekend, alternating musical evenings with entertainment for all ages. The first night features the Great 70s/80s Ballroom Dance Night, with the Ornella Nicolini Orchestra and DJ Ivan bringing the greatest hits of the era to the square. The Giancarlo & Rosania – Ritmi Diversi dance school will be on hand to get everyone out on the dance floor.

The second evening shifts gears with a Country Night, dedicated to Western style and group country dancing, open to both enthusiasts and those looking to try this fun, informal dance style for the first time.

Children's Sunday and the farmers' market

The grand finale is for families, with Children's Day taking place on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Little ones can explore a vegetable garden, meet animals up close, and enjoy numerous activities, workshops, and bouncy castles. At the same time, the square hosts the farmers' market (Bauernmarkt), a great opportunity to discover typical products and the excellence of the South Tyrolean region.

A community celebration

With its mix of music, tradition, and activities for children, the San Giacomo festival is one of the most beloved events in the district's summer calendar. Its free entry and the intimate setting of the square make it the perfect occasion to experience the village atmosphere of this Laives district, filled with dancing, local flavors, and shared joy.
