Chestnut trofie and the autumn feast in the Scrivia Valley
The Chestnut Trofie Festival, part of the Autumn Feast, is one of the most characteristic gastronomic events in Busalla, a municipality in the Scrivia Valley in the province of Genoa. The stars are the chestnut trofie, the typical Ligurian pasta made with chestnut flour, which tells the story of peasant tradition and the ingenuity of poor hinterland cuisine.
The festival enlivens the town with food stalls where you can taste chestnut trofie and other traditional autumn dishes, accompanied by markets, music, and entertainment. The Autumn Feast is a community event that celebrates the arrival of the cold season with its most genuine flavours, bringing together residents and visitors.
The event is included among the Authentic Ligurian Events 2026, the program with which the Liguria Region supports the traditional festivals of the territory. The recognition testifies to the festival's value as an authentic expression of the Scrivia Valley's gastronomic culture and as an opportunity to promote the Genoese hinterland.
A historic crossroads between Genoa and Piedmont, Busalla is a lively municipality in the Ligurian hinterland, also known for the Rose Festival dedicated to the Syrup Rose. The Chestnut Trofie Festival enriches its calendar with an autumn event that celebrates the flavours of the mountains and the traditions of the Scrivia Valley.
For 2026, the Chestnut Trofie Festival, as part of the Autumn Feast, livens up Busalla on October 3rd and 4th. The Pro Loco's food stalls offer chestnut trofie, a symbolic dish of the hinterland's tradition, along with other autumn specialities. The feast is enhanced by markets, music, and entertainment, for a double day of flavours and conviviality. The event is recognized as an Authentic Ligurian Event 2026.
Busalla is served by the train station on the Genoa–Arquata Scrivia/Turin line. By car, take the Busalla highway exit (A7). The festival takes place in the town centre.
The feast is held on a day in October, with food stalls, markets, and music. Free entry; food and drinks at the stalls are paid.
