Roasted chestnuts, polenta and antique market in the upper Scrivia Valley
The Chestnut Festival of Crocefieschi is one of the events that mark the arrival of autumn in the upper Scrivia Valley, in the Metropolitan City of Genoa. The chestnut, a symbol of the Ligurian Apennine woods, has been a precious food for mountain communities for centuries, and the festival celebrates its harvest and gastronomic tradition.
The protagonists of the day are the typical autumn dishes: polenta, grilled sausages, and especially the fragrant and steaming roasted chestnuts, prepared according to tradition. The food stalls, set up by volunteers, offer local specialties in a village festival atmosphere.
Enriching the festival are the antique market, which animates the village streets with stalls of vintage items and curiosities, and live music. Organized by the Pro Loco of Crocefieschi and included among the Autentico Ligure events, the Chestnut Festival is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Genoese hinterland and to taste the products of a mountain land.
The 2026 edition of the Chestnut Festival is scheduled for October 11. The Pro Loco's food stalls offer autumn specialties from the region, while the antique market and live music complete a day of celebration in the heart of the Scrivia Valley.
The detailed hourly schedule is distributed by the Pro Loco of Crocefieschi in the preceding days.
