An evening of band music in the gardens of Mombasiglio Castle
The Ceva and Mondovì Concert Band Performance is one of the most anticipated summer events in Mombasiglio, a charming village in the Monregalese area of the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. The evening takes place in the evocative gardens of Mombasiglio Castle, the historic fortress that overlooks the town and houses the renowned General Bonaparte Napoleonic Museum, dedicated to Napoleon's first Italian campaign of 1796.
The event brings together two historic local ensembles on the same stage: the Ceva Concert Band and the Mondovì Concert Band. Launched in 2025 as the first historic joint performance, the concert immediately became a major draw for the public, leading to its return following the success of the debut edition.
Under the guidance of conductors Maurizio Caldera, Alessio Mollo, and Marco Palamarucci, the bands perform an engaging repertoire of marches, folk melodies, and arrangements that highlight the Italian band tradition and its deep connection to the Piedmontese territory.
The concert is part of the rich seasonal program organized by the Mombasiglio Castle Foundation, which brings the manor to life from March to October with guided tours, historical lectures, and cultural activities. The musical evening traditionally serves as a highlight of the local patronal feast, offering residents and visitors a festive occasion in one of the most characteristic locations of the Langhe and Monregalese regions.
On August 9, 2026, the gardens of Mombasiglio Castle will once again host the concert by the Ceva and Mondovì Concert Bands. The event, part of the summer season of the Mombasiglio Castle Foundation, confirms the successful formula of the inaugural edition: an evening of open-air band music, with free admission, in the setting of the Monregalese manor.
The two bands offer a repertoire of marches, folk melodies, and arrangements from the Italian band tradition, following the formula of the first edition conducted by maestros Maurizio Caldera, Alessio Mollo, and Marco Palamarucci.
The detailed musical program of individual pieces has not yet been published by the organizers.
Mombasiglio is located in the Monregalese area, in the Province of Cuneo. By car, take the A6 Turin-Savona motorway, exit at Mondovì, and continue towards Val Tanaro. The nearest train station is in Ceva, on the Turin-Savona line.
The concert is held in the gardens of Mombasiglio Castle, at Piazza Vittorio Veneto 1.
Admission to the concert is free; the evening begins at 9:00 PM. For the event, the Castle offers guided tours, and in previous editions, it has featured special evening openings of the General Bonaparte Museum.
