The salt marathon between sport, sea, and solidarity
In just a few editions, Cervia Run has become the first major sporting event of the year for the city of salt. Every spring, along the Lungomare Grazia Deledda in the Municipality of Cervia, in the province of Ravenna, the event transforms the Romagna Riviera into a large running village for an entire weekend. The start and finish for all races are set on the seafront, in front of Bagno Marco 184, in a picturesque setting overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
The strength of Cervia Run lies in the variety of its races, designed to welcome athletes of all levels, from professionals to amateurs, and even the youngest participants. The competitive core is the half marathon, a FIDAL-sanctioned competitive race reserved for registered members and RunCard holders, alongside the 10-kilometer race, available in both competitive and non-competitive versions.
Cervia Run is more than just a race; it's an event with a strong solidarity focus. The charitable initiatives linked to the event support AGEOP Ricerca, the association founded in 1982 that assists children with cancer treated at the pediatric oncohematology department of the Sant'Orsola hospital. The charitable dimension coexists with the international one: the race attracts high-level athletes, including Kenyan and Ethiopian runners, alongside the thousands of amateurs who participate in the popular races.
The course is completely flat and winds through the seafront and the streets of Cervia's center, crossing the canal and the avenues of the seaside resort. For the competitive races, the course is certified by FIDAL Nazionale, which sanctions the results in the federal rankings; the non-competitive races are sanctioned by UISP. All participants receive an official medal at the finish line.
Placing the race in the context of Cervia means discovering one of the most fascinating locations in Emilia-Romagna: an ancient city of salt, with its historic salt pans, the Leonardesque canal port, and a long seaside tradition. Running the Cervia Run at the end of winter allows you to experience the Riviera in its most authentic dimension, outside the summer tourist season, amidst silent beaches, pine forests, and the salty air of the Adriatic.
The third edition of Cervia Run recorded nearly 3,000 registrations, with start and finish on Lungomare Grazia Deledda, in front of Bagno Marco 184. The program included the competitive half marathon (start Sunday at 10:00 AM, time limit of 3 hours and 15 minutes), the 10 km in competitive and non-competitive versions, the 5 km Solidarity Run, and the mixed relay Lui&Lei. Saturday was dedicated to families with the Tecnocasa Kids Run for children and the Tecnocasa Family Run, a non-competitive walk.
The half marathon saw the presence of high-level athletes, including Kenyan and Ethiopian runners alongside the defending champion Hicham Boufars, with a new Kenyan record at the finish line. The event's initiatives supported AGEOP Ricerca, for children with cancer treated at Sant'Orsola in Bologna. All participants received the official medal.
