About Ceramica, Cibo e Corti

In San Pietro in Lama, a small town in the province of Lecce recognized as one of Italy's 'Cities of Ceramics,' the 'Ceramica, Cibo e Corti' festival returns every summer. For two evenings in late July, the historic center transforms into an immersive trail featuring pottery workshops, open courtyards, live cooking demonstrations, and tastings of traditional Salento products. It is a celebration of knowledge and flavor that weaves together craftsmanship, food, wine, and architecture, designed to reveal the authentic soul of the Valle della Cupa.

A celebration of knowledge and flavor in the heart of Salento

Ceramica, Cibo e Corti is the summer event that brings the historic center of San Pietro in Lama to life every year. Located just outside Lecce in the heart of the Valle della Cupa, this town of just over three thousand inhabitants hosts an event conceived and organized by the Municipality of San Pietro in Lama. Launched in 2022, it has a clear objective: to showcase three pillars of the local identity—ceramic craftsmanship, traditional cuisine, and the beauty of ancient courtyards.

The City of Ceramics

San Pietro in Lama is one of the Apulian towns officially recognized as a City of Ceramics. This ancient vocation, passed down through generations, can still be felt today in the village workshops. During the festival, local potters display their work—ranging from traditional pieces to contemporary creations—and offer live demonstrations of clay molding. It is a unique opportunity to get up close to a craft that represents the pinnacle of Salento's artisanal excellence.

Open courtyards, food, and music

The charm of the event lies in its diffused trail format: the streets and courtyards of the historic center open to the public, becoming natural stages for tastings, cooking shows, and performances. Along the route, visitors can discover the flavors of Salento, from fresh pasta and pucce to grilled meats and fried fish, all paired with craft beers and Salento wines. There are also tastings of extra virgin olive oil and live music that keeps the atmosphere vibrant late into the evening.

A staple of the Salento summer

Having grown with each edition, the festival is now a highly anticipated event in the province of Lecce, attracting visitors from neighboring towns and tourists vacationing in Salento. Collaborations with local entities, such as the Gal Valle della Cupa, and the artistic direction provided by local professionals have helped elevate the quality and appeal of the event while maintaining its authentic, grassroots character.

San Pietro in Lama and the Valle della Cupa

Visiting San Pietro in Lama during 'Ceramica, Cibo e Corti' means discovering an authentic village just a few kilometers from Lecce, nestled in the landscape of the Valle della Cupa in Puglia. Between ceramics, historic courtyards, and gastronomic specialties, the festival is an invitation to experience the most genuine side of Salento—a land of ancient trades and warm hospitality.

Ceramica, Cibo e Corti — edition 2026

The fifth edition of Ceramica, Cibo e Corti is scheduled for the weekend of July 25-26, 2026, in the historic center of San Pietro in Lama. As every year, the village will open its courtyards for an immersive trail featuring pottery workshops, tastings of local products, live cooking shows, and music. The detailed program with artisans, chefs, and schedules will be announced by the organization in the weeks leading up to the event.

For the summer of 2026, Ceramica, Cibo e Corti returns to San Pietro in Lama for its fifth edition, scheduled for Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, in the historic center. The municipality has begun the search for sponsors to support the initiative, confirming the event dates.

The format remains the same: the courtyards and streets of the village transform into a diffused trail dedicated to ceramic craftsmanship, Salento gastronomy, and conviviality, featuring exhibitions, demonstrations by local potters, tastings, cooking shows, and live music.

The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the names of guest artisans, chefs, and the schedule for each evening, has not yet been published; it will be released by the organization and the Municipality of San Pietro in Lama in the weeks preceding the event.
