About Celledizzo Festival

The Celledizzo Festival is the most anticipated event in Val di Pejo, Trentino. Organized with passion by the Gruppo Giovani Celledizzo, it features four days of music, dancing, traditional mountain food, and popular devotion. Held annually around the first Sunday of August, the small village in the municipality of Peio transforms into a vibrant hub of emotion, color, and joy, culminating on Sunday with Holy Mass and a traditional procession through the streets.

The Queen of Val di Pejo Festivals

Nestled in the heart of the Trentino Dolomites, between the woods and peaks of the Stelvio National Park, the village of Celledizzo (municipality of Peio, Province of Trento) hosts what locals affectionately call «La Gran Sagra» every summer: the most heartfelt and popular festival in the entire Val di Pejo. For four days, typically from Thursday to Sunday around the first Sunday of August, the small mountain hamlet comes alive with music, dancing, and the aroma of authentic local cuisine.

A Festival Created by the Youth

The secret of the Celledizzo Festival lies in its soul: the honor and responsibility of organizing it have always belonged to the Gruppo Giovani Celledizzo, who fill the program every year with creative flair. It is an authentic village festival, free of frills, where you can immerse yourself in the true atmosphere of the Trentino mountains, amidst laughter, dancing, and good food. The beating heart of the event is the Celledizzo Sports Field, where a large marquee is set up to host the kitchen and evening dances.

Music, Cuisine, and Tradition

The program alternates between ballroom dancing and polka evenings, concerts by local bands and choirs, traditional dinners featuring Val di Pejo specialties, and moments of strong community spirit. The highlight arrives on Sunday, with a traditional lunch at noon, Holy Mass accompanied by the Val di Peio Band, and the solemn procession that winds through the village streets with hymns, prayers, and flower petals, before closing on a high note with dinner and the final dance party.

Why it is worth the trip

The Celledizzo Festival is not a tourist-trap event; it is a living tradition that unites the entire Val di Pejo community. Visitors discover the simple, warm hospitality of Trentino mountain villages, alpine dairy cuisine, and the pleasure of a festival where fun is born from everyone's participation. It is the ideal opportunity to experience the Solandra summer away from the crowds, immersed in one of Italy's most beautiful alpine landscapes.
