The Cefalù CineClub is a film series born at the Cinema Astro in Cefalù, a historic venue in the province of Palermo, in the heart of northern Sicily. The initiative turns Tuesday evenings into a regular date with the big screen, offering a curated selection of the season's most significant films: Oscar-nominated works, award-winners from the Venice International Film Festival, the Golden Globes, and other major international festivals.
Two seasons of screenings
The series is divided into two annual cycles. The winter season, between February and March, brings together seven evenings dedicated to titles fresh from the international awards season. The autumn season, between October and November, features six evenings of auteur cinema, using a double-screening format at 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM to accommodate all audience schedules.
A local cultural cornerstone
More than just a film program, the Cefalù CineClub has established itself as a cultural landmark for the town and the surrounding area. For years, the Cinema Astro has been one of Cefalù's main hubs for cultural gathering, where cinema is experienced as a collective and emotional event. The series has successfully captured a loyal audience, offering the province of Palermo a chance to discover or rediscover auteur films that do not always reach standard commercial circuits.
