Jazz, pop, and classical music in the gardens of Casale dei Cedrati, at Villa Doria Pamphilj
Cedrati Live is the summer season at Casale dei Cedrati, a historic building nestled within Villa Doria Pamphilj, the largest public park in the capital, located in the Aurelio district of Rome (Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio). Returned to the city after an extensive restoration and entrusted to a consortium formed by CoopCulture and the Linea d'Arte cooperative, the Casale is now a space for participatory urban regeneration: a place where cultural programming serves as a tool for community building rather than mere entertainment.
The festival runs throughout the season, from May until the end of July, taking place primarily in the Casale garden, which is set up as an intimate open-air stage. The theme chosen for the 2026 edition, Culture builds community, perfectly encapsulates the approach: live music, public debate, visual arts, and conviviality.
The heart of the program is live music, with a special focus on jazz—a genre that has been a staple at the Casale since its early seasons thanks to a collaboration with the jazz department of the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia. Concerts are typically held on Thursday and Saturday evenings, starting around 9:30 PM, featuring both local Roman talent and international guests. The repertoire is diverse, balancing jazz performances with pop evenings, tributes to Italian singer-songwriters, and classical music, making the festival accessible to a wide audience.
The charm of Cedrati Live lies primarily in its setting. Listening to a jazz quintet as dusk falls over Villa Pamphilj, just steps away from the pine forests and park avenues, is an experience few urban festivals can offer: no traffic noise, cooler temperatures than in the historic center, and an intentionally intimate scale, far removed from the massive stages of the Estate Romana. Affordable prices and a participatory approach do the rest; here, you aren't just buying a ticket, you are joining a neighborhood project.
The Casale takes its name from the citrus trees that were once cultivated in the gardens of the 17th-century Pamphilj villa. Long left unused, it has been reclaimed and reopened as Rome's first urban regeneration space with participatory governance, involving cultural cooperatives, associations, and local residents. The summer festival is its most visible showcase and has now reached its third season following the restoration.
The 2026 summer season at Casale dei Cedrati runs from May 3rd to July 30th, culminating in July when the garden becomes a small open-air stage every week. The guiding theme this year is 'Culture builds community': musical programming is intertwined with public meetings, exhibitions, and convivial moments, in continuity with the Casale's participatory vocation.
Concerts are concentrated on Thursday and Saturday evenings, starting around 9:30 PM and lasting about two hours, featuring a lineup that alternates between the Roman jazz scene and international guests. Alongside the music, a photography exhibition dedicated to the nature of Northern Europe will accompany the public throughout the festival.
The program may be updated with additional events: we recommend checking for updates on the Casale dei Cedrati website and social media channels.
