Music at the Museums is one of the most evocative concert series in the Roman cultural landscape: a sequence of afternoon performances resonating through the halls, galleries, and courtyards of the Vatican Museums, in the heart of Vatican City, just a stone's throw from the city of Rome. Promoted by the Governorate of Vatican City State — Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with CIDIM (National Committee for Italian Music), the event transforms the world's most famous museum into an open-air concert hall, where music engages in a dialogue with timeless statues, frescoes, and masterpieces.

The 2026 Edition: "The Song of the Seasons"

From March 14 to November 27, 2026, eleven afternoon concerts will mark the season under the theme "The Song of the Seasons: A Journey Through Light, Passion, and Spirituality." The musical journey traces centuries of history through the works of Antonio Vivaldi, Giovan Battista Pergolesi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Niccolò Paganini, and Astor Piazzolla, blending baroque, classicism, and contemporary influences. The concerts are held in locations of rare beauty, from the Gallery of Busts and the Gallery of Statues in the Pio Clementino Museum to the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo.

Young Talents and Papal Bands

At the heart of the series is the promotion of young talents from Italian conservatories and academies, to whom the Vatican Museums offer a stage unique in the world. The 2026 edition features pianist Élisabeth Pion, the trio composed of Costantino Rucci (violin), Giulia Sanguinetti (cello), and Anna Rigoni (piano) — students of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia — as well as pianist Josef Edoardo Mossali from the International Academy of Imola and pianist Claudio Berra. The grand finale on September 28, at the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo, will bring together the Pontifical Musical Band, the Band of the Pontifical Swiss Guard, and the Band of the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps, in an event of profound symbolic and spiritual value.
