The carnival celebration in the heart of the town, featuring masks and joy in the square
When the carnival season arrives, Cavallermaggiore dresses up for the occasion. This small town in the Cuneo plains of Piedmont celebrates the most cheerful and lighthearted time of the year with a simple, genuine event that brings together adults and children in the square. It is organized by the Pro Loco Cavallermaggiore, the association that has always kept local life vibrant, from food festivals to town celebrations.
The heart of the festival is the central Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, the town's main square, flanked by the Sala Polifunzionale dell'Ala Comunale, which serves as a covered shelter and space for indoor activities. It is here, between the porticoes and the historic center, that the community gathers to celebrate Carnival in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Cavallermaggiore Carnival is a town square festival in the most authentic sense: no large tourist-style parade floats, but a local event filled with masks, confetti, and entertainment moments designed primarily for children. The event is completely free and open to the entire community, reflecting the folk traditions that characterize many towns in the province of Cuneo.
The Carnival is one of the times of the year when the people of Cavallermaggiore come together, just as they do for other local events promoted by the Pro Loco and the Municipality. It is an opportunity to experience the town center in costume, meet up with neighbors, and give children an afternoon of play and joy, in keeping with a celebration that has always been part of the identity of rural Piedmont.
