The ephemeral art of petals

The Infiorata del Corpus Domini is the event that transforms the center of Diano Marina, on the Riviera dei Fiori in the province of Imperia, into an open-air gallery of floral carpets every year. The tradition deeply connects the town to its vocation: the very name Riviera dei Fiori (Riviera of Flowers) recalls the floricultural cultivation that has characterized western Liguria for centuries.

A night of work

The flower carpets are created by the Gruppo Amici dell'Infiorata (Friends of the Infiorata Group) starting from the evening before the solemnity until the first light of dawn: designing and laying the petals keeps the volunteers busy all night. In the morning, after the holy mass, the solemn Corpus Domini procession passes over the carpets, accompanied by authorities, confraternities, town associations, and children, to the sound of the local Musical Band.

Between Piazza Martiri della Liberta and Via Genala

The route of the infiorata unfolds in the heart of Diano Marina, between Piazza Martiri della Liberta and Via Genala, leading to the Parish Church of Sant'Antonio Abate. Each year, the floral designs develop a theme, often inspired by religious and civil values.

Faith and tradition

The Infiorata is much more than an aesthetic event: it is the expression of a community renewing its devotion through a fragile and collective art. For the visitor, it is an opportunity to discover an authentic Diano Marina, far from its purely seaside dimension.
