Twenty years of strings, stages, and emotions between Villa Euchelia and the Aquinum archaeological park
The Castrocielo International Guitar Festival is one of the longest-running guitar events in southern Lazio. Established in 2007, it transforms the small town of Castrocielo, in the province of Frosinone, into a hub for six-string enthusiasts every summer, offering concerts that blend classical repertoire, cross-genre influences, and international virtuosity.
The festival thrives in two evocative settings. The first is the Monacato di Villa Euchelia, a historic complex surrounded by greenery that hosts evening concerts with intimate, refined acoustics. The second is the Aquinum archaeological park, the site of the ancient Roman city along the Via Latina: here, music resonates among the monumental ruins, creating a dialogue between ancient heritage and contemporary sounds that serves as the event's hallmark.
In 2026, the festival reached the milestone of its twentieth edition, celebrated with the slogan "Twenty years of strings, stages, and emotions" and the theme "The guitar, a language without borders." Under the artistic direction of maestro Eugenio Beccherucci, the festival has hosted dozens of guitarists over the years, with some editions featuring over sixty instruments on stage for breathtaking ensemble performances.
Alongside the evening program, the festival regularly offers masterclasses and educational sessions for young guitarists, as well as meetings that bring the public closer to the instrument. It is a cultural project that weaves together music, the local area, and the promotion of Ciociaria's archaeological heritage, supported by the local community and Castrocielo's associations.
For visitors, the event is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Lazio: the villages of Ciociaria, the landscape at the foot of the Cairo and Aurunci mountains, and the layered history of Aquinum, the birthplace of the Latin poet Juvenal. The guitar thus becomes the common thread of an experience that is both a concert series and a journey through time.
For its twentieth anniversary, the festival offered a program centered on the two key evenings of July 10 and 11, 2026, featuring two exceptional guitarists on stage. The artistic direction of Eugenio Beccherucci aimed to highlight the festival's international vocation with the slogan "Twenty years of strings, stages, and emotions."
The concerts were once again hosted at the Monacato di Villa Euchelia and the Aquinum archaeological park, where music engaged in a dialogue with the remains of the ancient Roman city along the Via Latina in Castrocielo (Frosinone).
The event, held from July 9 to 13, combined concerts with educational sessions and meetings dedicated to the instrument. The full lineup was announced by the organizers shortly before the event.
Concerts take place at the Monacato di Villa Euchelia and the Aquinum archaeological park in Castrocielo (FR), Lazio.
