Chestnuts, traditional sweets, and autumn flavors in the Stura Valley village
The Castagnata di Rossiglione is the autumn festival celebrating the chestnut, the prime fruit of the woods of Valle Stura, in the territory of the Beigua Regional Natural Park, in the Metropolitan City of Genoa. For an entire day, the village comes alive with the aroma of roasted chestnuts and the flavors of tradition.
The absolute stars are boiled and roasted chestnuts, but the festival also offers traditional sweets made from chestnut flour, typical valley products, and local wines. The stands of the Pro Loco (local tourist board) and producers fill the streets of the historic center, among the tower-houses and low arcades that characterize the upper village of Rossiglione.
The Castagnata is part of Rossiglione's rich autumn calendar, which also includes the large Expo Valle Stura fair and the historic Sagra della Castagna, spread between late September and October. It's the ideal opportunity to discover the woods, trails, and flavors of the Ligurian Apennines in the most evocative season.
The 2026 edition of the Castagnata is scheduled for Saturday, October 11 in the village of Rossiglione. The day is part of the autumn festival calendar of Valle Stura, between Expo Valle Stura and the Sagra della Castagna.
The detailed program will be published by the Pro Loco in the preceding days.
The timetable will be released by the Pro Loco of Rossiglione. The usual structure includes:
