Twelve days of wine, culture, and tradition in the land of Pasolini
The Casarsa Wine Festival is one of the longest-running wine events in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Its roots go back to the post-World War II era when wine was the heart of the economy in this strip of plain between the Tagliamento and the Grave. Today, it is a twelve-day festival that attracts thousands of visitors, capable of uniting peasant tradition with the culture, entertainment, and identity of a territory that was dear to Pier Paolo Pasolini, who is buried and celebrated here.
The heart of the festival is, of course, wine. Wineries and producers from Grave del Friuli and the entire region offer their labels for tasting, with a calendar of technical meetings dedicated to the area's great grape varieties—from Pinot to Ribolla Gialla. A prestigious event is Filari di Bolle, the regional selection of the best sparkling wines, now in its twelfth edition, with an award ceremony that officially opens the festival. A new venue welcomes all tastings this year: the Serra dei Limoni (Lemon Greenhouse), restored in the former orangery of the Palazzo Burovich de Zmajevich garden.
The Wine Festival is much more than a food and wine event; it is a major cultural hub. Scheduled events include photographic exhibitions, book presentations, concerts and musical tributes, shows, DJ sets, and musical aperitifs that liven up the town squares. There are also sporting events—most notably the historic Wine March through the vineyards—and moments of solidarity, in an event that is a living expression of the community and the tireless work of Pro Casarsa della Delizia APS.
Casarsa is the land of Pasolini's childhood and eternity, and the festival does not forget this heritage. Through the alleys of the town center and the garden of Palazzo Burovich, the festival intertwines wine with poetry, the Friulian language, and the popular culture that the poet so loved. A festival that is both a village celebration and a reflection of a deep Friulian identity, supported by the Municipality of Casarsa della Delizia and the patronage of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy.
The 2026 edition, the 78th, runs from April 23 to May 4 with over 110 events over twelve days, in a program that combines wine, culture, entertainment, sports, solidarity, and tradition. The big new feature is the Serra dei Limoni (Lemon Greenhouse), restored in the former orangery of the Palazzo Burovich de Zmajevich garden, which becomes the venue for all tastings and food and wine events, in collaboration with Pordenone ArtandFood. The patronage of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy has been extended to the entire event.
Among the most anticipated events: the musical preview on April 16 at the Pasolini Theater, the opening ceremony on April 25 with the Filari di Bolle awards (12th sparkling wine selection), the 54th Wine March on May 1, tribute concerts, and major evening events in the square.
