A grand choral tradition in the heart of the Biella region
The Casapinta Choir Festival is one of the longest-running and most beloved events in the Piedmontese choral scene. Organized by the Corale di Casapinta APS, a folk-inspired vocal group founded in 1985 in a small pre-Alpine village in the upper Biella area, the festival reaches its thirty-seventh edition in 2026, upholding a tradition that has been renewed for over three decades. The event takes place in the municipality of Casapinta, in the Province of Biella, in the heart of Piedmont.
The festival focuses on the meeting of different choral groups, in a spirit of friendship and sharing that has always been the hallmark of the Corale di Casapinta. Each edition hosts choirs from various Italian regions, invited to perform a repertoire ranging from folk traditions to Alpine songs, and even contemporary choral pieces. The chosen setting is the intimate and evocative Church of San Lorenzo, whose acoustic qualities and atmosphere enhance the voices of the choirs.
The Choir Festival is about more than just music. The day usually begins with a moment of reflection dedicated to the social and community value of choral singing, because for the Corale di Casapinta, singing together is also a way of being together. Throughout the year, the group brings its voice to local care homes for the elderly, considering these performances an integral part of their mission.
The Corale di Casapinta was born and raised in the Biella area, where the tradition of folk and Alpine singing is deeply felt. The festival helps keep this legacy alive, offering the public a journey through mountain melodies, traditional peasant songs, and the harmonies of modern choral music. It is a precious opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont and to experience music in a direct and participatory way.
Thanks to the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella and the collaboration with FENIARCO (the National Italian Federation of Regional Choral Associations), the festival maintains a popular and accessible character, with free admission. It is an open invitation to anyone who wishes to be moved by the power and beauty of voices joining together in song.
