The Casalgrande Carnival

In the heart of winter, when the calendar marks Carnival season, the Municipality of Casalgrande, in the province of Reggio Emilia, invites young and old to Piazza Costituzione for a day entirely dedicated to celebration. The Casalgrande Carnival is a village festival in the truest sense of the word: free, accessible, built around children and the sense of community that has always characterized this corner of Emilia-Romagna at the foot of the Reggio hills.

A Party for Families

The program unfolds throughout the day. In the morning, the square fills with creative workshops, games, and entertainment designed for the little ones: bouncy castles, face painting, bubble games, and many activities that transform the public space into a large open-air playground. In the afternoon, the focus shifts to the parade of masks, the most anticipated moment, when costumed children and families parade through the square amidst confetti, music, and colorful characters.

Market and Local Flavors

Alongside the fun, the Casalgrande Carnival hosts a quality market organized in collaboration with COM.RE, with stalls and exhibition spaces dedicated to promoting local food and wine excellences. There are also food stalls offering typical Emilian Carnival specialties, from frappe to gnocco fritto, to accompany the celebration with the flavors of Reggio tradition.

A Village Tradition

Organized by the Pro Loco of Casalgrande with the patronage and support of the Municipal Administration, the Carnival involves local associations, schools, and parent committees every year, in a collaboration that is the true driving force of the event. Each edition proposes a different theme and renewed scenery, but the spirit remains the same: a day of shared joy, where creativity and community belonging are at the heart of the celebration.
