The masked Carnival party in the hamlet of Spezzano, in Fiorano Modenese
The Carnival in Spezzano is one of the most anticipated events of the Carnival season in the hamlet of Spezzano, part of the Municipality of Fiorano Modenese, in the province of Modena, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. It is a young but already established festival in the town's fabric: a neighborhood event designed primarily for children and families, which transforms Piazza Falcone Borsellino into a large space for play and joy.
The event is promoted by the Parents' Committee of the Francesca Bursi Comprehensive Institute, in collaboration with the Associazione Fiera di san Rocco and with the patronage of the Municipality of Fiorano Modenese. It is precisely this associative and family origin that gives the Spezzano Carnival its authentic character: not a grand parade of floats, but a town festival made of masks, smiles, and spontaneous participation, where children and their families are the true protagonists.
The festival takes place in the afternoon and offers shows and entertainment for children and families. The most anticipated moment is the traditional masked parade, which brings colorful and imaginative costumes to the square. The program also includes:
Although it is a small-scale event, the Carnival in Spezzano is part of the rich Carnival tradition of Emilia-Romagna and the province of Modena, where every town and hamlet celebrates this time of year in its own way. The choice to entrust the organization to the school's Parents' Committee makes the festival an occasion for the entire Spezzano community to come together, uniting different generations around the values of sharing and popular tradition.
Those visiting Fiorano Modenese during Carnival season will find a welcoming celebration in Spezzano, perfect for children and immersed in the lively atmosphere of Emilia's town festivals. A simple but genuine opportunity to experience Carnival away from the crowds of major events, enjoying masks, typical sweets, and the joy of a festive square.
