The Carnival of Castagneto Carducci

Every year, as the season of masks arrives, Castagneto Carducci prepares to celebrate Carnival with a cheerful, colorful festival that enlivens Piazza del Popolo, in the heart of the hilltop village made famous by the poet Giosuè Carducci. We are on the Etruscan Coast, in the province of Livorno, one of the most evocative areas of Tuscany, where local traditions remain a cherished appointment for families.

A festival designed for children

The Carnival Festival is an event conceived especially for the little ones, yet capable of involving adults as well. The program includes entertainment, games, and the unmissable pentolacce, to experience the most colorful and carefree spirit of Carnival together. Confetti, costumes, and a great desire to have fun transform the square into a large playground for the entire community.

Traditional sweets

A delicious, sweet break is a must: during the festival, traditional Carnival sweets prepared by the Piccolo Biscottificio Castagnetano are offered—a tribute to the artisanal flavors of the Tuscan Carnival, from fritters to fried pastries that scent the squares at this time of year.

An indoor and outdoor event

The event takes place both indoors, at the Centro Le Rondini, and outdoors in Piazza del Popolo: a choice that allows the initiative to proceed in any weather condition, ensuring fun even in the event of rain or a cold late-winter day.

The Carnival Festival is also an opportunity to discover Castagneto Carducci, a medieval village perched among hills cultivated with vines and olive trees, overlooking the sea of the Etruscan Coast.
