About Carnevalandalo

Carnevalandalo is the grand Carnival celebration in Andalo, located on the Paganella Plateau in Trentino. Every year, on Fat Thursday and Shrove Tuesday, the town center comes alive with music, dancing, colorful masks, children's entertainment, giant inflatables, and the unmissable seasonal treats like grostoli and krapfen. This traditional, family-friendly, and free event transforms Piazza Dolomiti and the Palacongressi into a vibrant stage of joy nestled within the Brenta Dolomites.

The Andalo Carnival in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites

Carnevalandalo is the signature Carnival festival of Andalo, the tourist hub of the Paganella Plateau in Trentino-Alto Adige. Every winter, during the Carnival season, the town dresses up to welcome residents and holidaymakers with two main highlights: Fat Thursday and Shrove Tuesday. It is an event specifically designed for families, blending alpine Carnival traditions with the lively atmosphere of one of the most beloved ski resorts in the Brenta Dolomites.

Two days of festivities: Fat Thursday and Shrove Tuesday

The heart of the event beats in Piazza Dolomiti and at the Andalo Palacongressi. On Fat Thursday, "Carnevalando" takes the stage with music, dancing, live performances by masked groups, face painting, entertainment for all ages, and the distribution of traditional Carnival delicacies. Shrove Tuesday is the main event, featuring a masked parade through the town streets and a grand finale party that brings joy inside and around the Palacongressi.

What to expect

  • Masked parade through the center of Andalo
  • Music, dancing, and entertainment with DJs and performers
  • Stage performances by masked groups with choreography and dance
  • Activities for children: face painting, balloon art, giant inflatables, and Baby Dance
  • Carnival sweets: grostoli, krapfen, and cotton candy

A Paganella tradition

Carnevalandalo is part of the broader Carnival celebrations on the Paganella Plateau and the Piana Rotaliana, where various villages organize parties, parades, and entertainment. In Andalo, the event is organized by Andalo Vacanze in collaboration with the APT Dolomiti Paganella, with the aim of offering families and guests a free, colorful, and engaging afternoon, perfect to combine with a day on the snow or a stroll through the town.

Why attend

Between the masks, floats, music, and the scent of fried pastries, Carnevalandalo is the ideal opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere of Carnival in the mountains. A simple yet heartfelt event that unites the Andalo community and the many tourists visiting during the winter high season, all set against the unique backdrop of the Paganella and the UNESCO-listed Brenta Dolomites.
