The magic of Christmas in the heart of the Maiella mountains
The Caramanico Terme Christmas Village is the premier winter event that turns the historic center of this Abruzzo village—tucked away in the Maiella National Park and recognized as one of Italy's most beautiful villages—into an enchanted path of lights, wooden chalets, and holiday cheer. Promoted by the Municipality of Caramanico Terme (Province of Pescara, Abruzzo) in collaboration with the local tourist office, the event reaches its sixth edition for the 2025-2026 season, cementing its status as one of the region's most beloved Christmas destinations.
The village stretches across the streets and squares of the historic center, connected by a charming panoramic tourist train. Among the most popular attractions returning this year are the real ice-skating rink, the Ferris wheel, the hot-air balloon ride, the classic carousel, and the educational farm with animals. The wooden chalets host markets featuring local products, handicrafts, and gourmet specialties, perfect for holiday shopping.
In the heart of the village, the Nativity Scene Trail comes to life, featuring artisanal crèches set up throughout the alleys. Meanwhile, children can meet Santa Claus in his Kingdom and, during the Epiphany, visit the Befana in her house. The experience is completed by the "Winter Gardens," beautifully decorated spaces that enhance the festive atmosphere.
Throughout the event, the village offers a packed calendar of entertainment and street performances: stilt walkers, glowing butterflies, puppet shows, folk music concerts, traditional bagpipers, circus acts, bingo games, book presentations, and screenings. The end-of-year period is highlighted by a New Year's Eve DJ set and local traditions like the "Ballo della Pupa" dance.
The Christmas Village takes place in the historic center of Caramanico Terme, in the province of Pescara. It is open on weekends and holidays starting November 15 (10:30 AM – 8:30 PM), and daily from December 20 to January 6 (closed on December 25). Entry to the village is free, while individual attractions are paid.
