The festival bridging Italian cinema and Hollywood on the Blue Island
Capri, Hollywood - The International Film Festival is one of the longest-running and most prestigious film festivals in Southern Italy. Established in 1995 by journalist and producer Pascal Vicedomini and the Capri in the World Institute, the event takes place every year on the island of Capri, in the heart of the Gulf of Naples, Campania, spanning the turn of the year. Its mission is to build a cultural bridge between Italian and international cinema, with a special focus on the world of Hollywood.
Screenings and events are split between the island's two municipalities: the Capri Auditorium (formerly Cinema Nazionale) and the Cinema Paradiso in Anacapri. Each year, over two hundred films from around the globe are presented, including premieres, documentaries, animated works, and independent productions. Many screenings are also accompanied by online sessions on partner platforms, reaching a much wider audience beyond those present on the island.
The most anticipated moment is the presentation of the Capri Awards, which honor the season's best films, directors, and actors each winter, having become a true barometer for the Oscars race over the years. The festival is renowned for its tributes to cinema icons and the presence of Italian and international stars who gather on the Blue Island for red carpets, masterclasses, and public Q&A sessions.
The festival is promoted by the Capri in the World Institute with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Campania Region, alongside collaborations with major private partners. More than just a series of screenings, Capri, Hollywood is an appointment that weaves together cinema, music, television, and art, drawing the world's attention to one of the Mediterranean's most iconic islands at the end of each year.
For its thirtieth anniversary, Capri, Hollywood brought the Blue Island to life from December 26, 2025, to January 2, 2026, with screenings and events split between the Capri Auditorium and the Cinema Paradiso in Anacapri. The edition, chaired by actor Vincent Riotta, was also dedicated to a major tribute to maestro Ennio Morricone and his film scores.
Among the guests and honorees were American actor Michael O'Keefe, Italian performers Alessandro Preziosi and Monica Guerritore, as well as the special "Capri 30th Award" presented to Matteo Garrone and Nunzia De Stefano. The traditional Capri Awards ceremony confirmed the festival's vocation for anticipating the international awards season.
The 30th edition opened in Anacapri with a concert by the Vatican Gendarmerie Band dedicated to Ennio Morricone and continued until January 2, 2026, with daily screenings, tributes, and meetings divided between the Capri Auditorium and the Cinema Paradiso in Anacapri, in addition to several special online screenings. The schedule alternated between premieres, documentaries, and international works, culminating in the Capri Awards ceremony.
Capri can be reached by hydrofoil or ferry from the ports of Naples (Molo Beverello and Calata Porta di Massa) and Sorrento. From the Marina Grande port, you can reach the center of Capri via funicular or bus; Anacapri is connected by local bus lines.
Events are held at the Capri Auditorium and the Cinema Paradiso in Anacapri. Some special screenings are also available online via the festival's partner platforms.
The event takes place during the end-of-year holidays: it is highly recommended to book ferries and accommodation well in advance. For the updated program and access details, please refer to the official website capri-world.com.
