Vernaccia, an ancient wine
The Festa della Vernaccia di Cannara is dedicated to Vernaccia di Cannara, a sweet dessert wine with an ancient tradition, with traces found in the village since the 1400s. The event takes place in the historic centre of Cannara, in the province of Perugia, and is a tribute to a product that defines the territory, alongside the more famous onion.
Four days of taste and culture
The programme combines taste, tradition, and music. It opens with an exhibition of antique harvest objects curated by the Pro Loco and the opening of the food stand, followed by conferences dedicated to Vernaccia and local products, tourist screenings, nature walks in the area, and activities for schools. The musical evenings «In Vino Veritas» accompany the festival, which falls around Easter and features Easter cakes and traditional 'roccetti cannaresi' among its specialities.
A community celebration
Organised by the Municipal Administration of Cannara in collaboration with local associations, the Festa della Vernaccia promotes the gastronomic identity of the town and renews the community's bond with its typical products, in an event that combines conviviality, culture, and local promotion.
Vernaccia Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the 9th, of the Festa della Vernaccia di Cannara was held from April 9 to 12 in the historic centre. Four days dedicated to the Vernaccia wine of Cannara, with an exhibition, conferences, nature walks, musical evenings, and tastings of local specialities, during the Easter period which brought Easter cakes and 'roccetti cannaresi' to the table.

- Nature walk with departure from Piazza Baldaccini and breakfast
- 5:00 PM — Award ceremony for the Vernaccia competition for primary schools
- 6:00 PM — Musical evening «In Vino Veritas»

Sunday, April 12
- 4:00 PM — 'Rocchetti cannaresi' workshop (Piazza Giardino Fiorito)
- 5:00 PM — «Horizontal tasting of Vernaccia» with Easter cakes

How to get here
By car: Cannara is accessible from the E45 or Via Flaminia, in the province of Perugia, in the plain between Assisi, Bevagna, and Foligno. The festival takes place in the historic centre.
