About Candia Triathlon

On the shores of Lake Candia, in the province of Turin, one of Piedmont's most anticipated triathlon races takes place. Organized by ASD Torino Triathlon, the event features two No Draft distances: the Olympic (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and the Middle (1.9 km swim, 81 km bike, 21 km run). An endurance test immersed in the nature of the Lake Candia Reserve, across calm waters, Canavese roads, and gravel sections.

A triathlon race in the heart of the Canavese

The Candia Canavese No Draft Middle and Olympic Triathlon is one of the most highly regarded events in the Piedmontese running, cycling, and swimming calendar. It takes place in Candia Canavese, a small town in the Province of Turin overlooking the picturesque Lake Candia, a glacial lake at the center of one of the most important nature reserves in Piedmont. The event is organized by ASD Torino Triathlon and is part of the FITri federal circuit.

Two distances, one challenge

The race is divided into two courses that allow both elite athletes and amateurs to test themselves:

  • Olympic Triathlon (No Draft) — 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycling, and 10 km run.
  • Middle Triathlon — 1.9 km swim, 81 km cycling, and 21 km run, the most demanding test, close to the 70.3 format.

In both distances, the No Draft rule applies: drafting is prohibited during the cycling leg, a choice that rewards the strength and consistency of the individual athlete.

The three legs

The swim takes place in the waters of Lake Candia, along the lanes normally used for rowing and canoeing: a course described by the organizers as simple and safe, with continuous tracking. The cycling leg unfolds on the linear roads of the Canavese, suitable for the no-draft format (time-trial bikes are allowed for the Olympic). The final run alternates between asphalt and gravel roads, with frequent refreshment stations.

A territory to discover

Beyond the competition, participating in the Candia triathlon means discovering a precious corner of the Canavese: the village of Candia Canavese, its nature reserve, and a landscape of hills, vineyards, and lakes just a few kilometers from Turin. A perfect opportunity to combine sport and nature on a spring Sunday.
