The comic and gaming festival tailored for enthusiasts in Tavagnasco
Canavese Comics is the new festival dedicated to comics, gaming, and pop culture held in Tavagnasco, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, in the heart of the Canavese area. The event takes place at the Palatenda on Via Quassolo and in the surrounding spaces, including the municipal gym, Parco delle Reine, and the sports fields, transforming the town into a meeting point for fans of comics, games, and fantasy worlds.
The organizers' goal is to restore the participatory dimension to the world of comics that seemed to have been lost in recent years. For this reason, Canavese Comics goes beyond mere exhibition: it focuses on the direct experience of visitors, with activities where they can challenge themselves, test games, meet authors, and immerse themselves in nerd culture within a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
The heart of the festival is the large gaming area with over 60 stations dedicated to board and role-playing games, including themed areas. There is no shortage of historical re-enactments, featuring Roman and Germanic camps, archery demonstrations, medieval fencing, and full-contact Nordic combat. There is also space for lightsaber performances and cosplay competitions, judged by industry experts, which fill the two days with characters and costumes.
The Tava Theatre hosts a series of conferences and meetings with illustrators, comic artists, and publishing houses, including horror novel presentations, panels with independent publishers, and notable guests from the comic book world. The evenings are enlivened by concerts and performances, while the stands feature independent publishers, artists, illustrators, local artisans, tattoo artists, and specialized shops.
Canavese Comics pays great attention to the little ones, with creative workshops, play areas, inflatables, treasure hunts, and activities designed for children. Thanks to the variety of the offerings and free admission for the youngest, the festival positions itself as an event for the whole family and a new reference point for pop culture in Piedmont.
The inaugural 2026 edition of Canavese Comics was held on June 6 and 7 at the Palatenda in Tavagnasco. On Saturday, doors opened at 11:00 AM and continued until the evening, while on Sunday, activities began at 10:00 AM. The program brought together over 60 board and role-playing game tables, Roman and Germanic historical re-enactment camps, archery and fencing, a cosplay competition with a jury of experts, conferences with illustrators and comic artists at the Tava Theatre, and numerous activities for children.
The event, born from the initiative of a group of local youths and supported by the Municipality of Tavagnasco, represented an ambitious debut for pop culture in the Canavese area and throughout Piedmont.
Tavagnasco is located in the upper Canavese valley, along the Canavese ridge. By car, it can be reached via the A5 Turin-Aosta motorway (Quincinetto or Pont-Saint-Martin exit), continuing along the SS26. By train, the reference station is Settimo Vittone or Pont-Saint-Martin, on the Chivasso-Aosta line.
The festival opens on Saturday from 11:00 AM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM. Tickets cost 8 euros per day, with free admission for children under 10. Free parking and spaces reserved for visitors with disabilities are available.
