The rainbow parade of Eastern Sicily in Caltagirone
CaltaPride is the LGBTQIA+ pride event held in Caltagirone, the city of ceramics in the heart of the Calatino area, in the province of Catania. Since its inception in 2024, it has rapidly become a beacon for the queer community in Eastern Sicily and for all those who believe in a more inclusive, visible, and free Sicily.
CaltaPride combines the festive spirit of Pride with its political and social dimension. The rainbow parade marches through the city's historic center, starting from Piazza Risorgimento and winding through the streets and squares to Piazza Umberto, where the main stage hosts speeches, performances, and music. Along the route, participants enjoy entertainment, readings of the political manifesto, artistic performances, and discussions on human rights.
Organized by the CaltaPride Committee with the patronage of the Municipality of Caltagirone and included in the city's summer event calendar, the Calatino Pride attracts thousands of people every year, establishing itself as one of the most heartfelt events of the summer. For a city that is a symbol of Sicilian art and tradition, CaltaPride represents a powerful signal of openness and dialogue with the new generations.
CaltaPride 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Caltagirone for its third edition. The organizing committee has confirmed the date, describing the event as a space to be experienced "with energy, presence, and voice." As the organizers stated, "we are in our third year, and every time it means bringing together energy, ideas, time, and courage."
The event maintains the format of previous editions: a rainbow parade through the historic center, starting from Piazza Risorgimento and arriving at Piazza Umberto, where the final event takes place with speeches and performances. The detailed program, including times, guests, and the final route, will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event on the official social media channels (Facebook and Instagram).

Following the tradition of previous editions, the day includes a gathering in the late afternoon at Piazza Risorgimento, the start of the rainbow parade through the historic center with various stops and speeches, and an evening arrival at Piazza Umberto with a stage, performances, and live music. Caltagirone is located in the hinterland of the province of Catania. By car, it can be reached via the SS417 Catania-Gela; by train, the Caltagirone station is connected to the Sicilian regional network. From the Catania-Fontanarossa and Comiso airports, you can continue by car or public bus.
The parade starts in the late afternoon from Piazza Risorgimento and travels through the historic center to Piazza Umberto. The event is free and open to everyone.
We recommend reaching the center on foot or by public transport, as several streets in the center are closed to traffic during the parade. For updated schedules and the final program, please refer to the official CaltaPride social media channels (Facebook and Instagram).
