The spring festival of the Campagnola hamlet

Calamaggio is the event with which the hamlet of Campagnola, in Gemona del Friuli (UD), celebrates the May Day long weekend. The name itself, a play on words between "calamari" (squid) and "maggio" (May), reveals the specialty that has made the festival famous: fried calamari, served at the food stalls in Via Trasaghis along with other Friulian and seafood dishes.

Gastronomy, music, and fun

For several days straddling late April and early May, the hamlet's area comes alive with a rich program of live music, often featuring tribute bands dedicated to great names in rock and Italian song, a well-stocked wine bar, entertainment, and festive moments for all ages. The traditional charity lottery is also present, a sign of the community spirit that animates the event.

A community festival at the foot of the Glemine

Calamaggio is born from the commitment of the organizing committee and volunteers of Campagnola, who transform the hamlet into a meeting point for locals and visitors every year. Between a portion of calamari and a concert, the festival is the perfect opportunity to experience the genuine atmosphere of the Gemona hamlets, at the foot of Mount Glemine, at the beginning of the warm season.
